The Madame Web Hollywood premiere was last night and the fashion theme, appropriately, was webbed, led by the star of the movie, Dakota Johnson.

I wrote about this at The Squawk last week – that Dakota’s wardrobe for this press tour has been pure body-ody-ody, culminating in this custom Gucci that calls to mind Zoë Kravitz’s Saint Laurent from the Met Gala a couple of years ago.

I confess, though, I’ve been doing some inappropriate zooming on Dakota’s look and not out of perviness, I swear, I just an amazed that the undergarment matches her skin so well. Because with Zoë’s, you could clearly see that there was silver g-string underneath, subtle but it’s there. Dakota’s however is even more subtle, like crazy subtle, so compliments to her stylist, Kate Young, for finding exactly the right shade to make this look work. And it WORKS.

Dakota’s co-star, Sydney Sweeney, was also dressed to theme, in Oscar De La Renta, although I don’t think this is working as well or at least it isn’t for me. I don’t love how the nude underlay transitions through the body and the overall style of it just seems so… dated? It’s giving Liza Minelli, who I love, but Sydney Sweeney and Liza Minelli should not be in the same style paragraph.

Isabel Merced and Celeste O’Connor brought some spider energy to the premiere. It’s not webbing, exactly, but the spirit is there in Isabel’s black dress with the fringy skirt, and similarly with Celeste’s red look, the way the beads are draped there’s the suggestion of the whole spider thing.

The showstopper, though, is of course Dakota, and now I’m not sure which one I prefer – the webbed dress she wore in London, which was a f-cking dream, or this one for its audacity.
