Did you know “Cool For the Summer” came out ten years ago? And it looks like Demi Lovato is teasing some new music.
This morning Lainey wrote about how everything is coming up Annie, mentioning The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast. It’s a long list of names and seems to be getting longer each day. It reminds me of those holiday movies like Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day or New Year’s Eve. Remember those films? They were always bad and weird, what I imagine an AI film to be before there was AI. A bunch of famous faces mushed together. Not that I think that is what will happen to The Devil Wears Prada 2 because there is a core there, with Annie, Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci. But too many cooks in the kitchen (or in this cast, too many B-listers on the IMDb page) is a real thing.
Shonda Rhimes is disappointed that The Residence has been cancelled (so am I!); it is a Shondaland production and showrunner Paul William Davies (who also worked on Scandal) has an overall deal at Netflix. That’s what makes it even more confusing. I find it hard to believe it didn’t perform well. So you have a very successful and prolific production team and a star cast and good reviews. This is where Netflix is choosing to pinch its pennies? Weird.
Scammers posing as celebrities is not a new phenomenon, but it has become more sophisticated with AI. Scammers can now replicate voices and video to make it look like someone like Keanu Reeves or Kevin Costner is speaking directly to you – this is way beyond fake Instagram DMs. The Hollywood Reporter cover story on it is kind of chilling because of how quickly it happens. The journalist sets up an account and within a few hours, has DMs from a long list of famous men. Logic tells us it’s fake, but the mix of social isolation and the lure of celebrity can override that logic.
Kelly Clarkson had to cancel the first night of her Vegas residency, which is a huge yikes. Her health is more important than a concert and obviously she understands these shows are an investment for fans, particularly those who travel. I’m sure she’s gutted. This might be confirmation bias, but why does it feel like Vegas residencies always have issues like this? Is it because it’s rushed, or because the artists are often working on multiple projects while also doing their residency? I don’t know. But I’ve had two Vegas concerts cancelled on me at the last minute.
Here's Demi Lovato leaving a dance studio in LA last month.
