Now that we’re all here, it’s time for some very important Dev Patel updates. One, as you can see from these photos from just yesterday, Dev Patel is still tall and handsome. This is not the most important thing, but let the record reflect that it is still the truth.

He was photographed at lunch in Los Angeles, I wonder if he’s there doing anything with his feature film directorial debut, Monkey Man. It’s due to be released by Netflix sometime next year and is described as “John Wick in Mumbai”. Besides being his feature debut, Patel also co-wrote the script for Monkey Man. These are all important things to know about Dev Patel. (The film co-stars Sharlto Copley, which is an important thing to know about Sharlto Copley.)

Another important thing to know about Dev Patel is that he is in The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, which is also expected next year, and is also a Netflix film. It’s part of Netflix’s deal to adapt Roald Dahl movies and is directed by Wes Anderson. Benedict Cumberbatch is the star of that film, which is not as good as Dev Patel being the star. Dev Patel should be the star of everything. But still, it's important to know that Dev Patel has two movies due next year, one an action movie he co-wrote and directs, and the other a whimsical tale crafted with undoubtedly obsessive precision by Wes Anderson. Dev Patel has range, that’s important to know, too.

And finally, this isn’t so much an important thing to know as it is an important reminder, but it’s not too late to cast Dev Patel as the next James Bond. Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, the custodians of Bond, say they want a 30-something. Dev Patel is 32. By the time they’re ready to start rolling on the new era of Bond in a couple years, Patel will be 34, a solid age for a new Bond. (Daniel Craig was 37, for comparison.) At that age, Patel could easily play Bond for a decade or more, which is what Broccoli and Wilson want, someone who can spend years in the role, as Craig did. Many names have been spoken to be the next James Bond, but there remains only one right and correct answer: Dev Patel. I know he says he isn’t interested, but have you considered asking him anyway? Just to be sure.

To recap, Dev Patel is: still tall and handsome and making his directorial debut with an action movie taking cues from John Wick. And Dev Patel has: good taste, two movies due out next year, and plenty of time to be cast as James Bond. And thus concludes these Very Important Dev Patel Updates.
