Amanda Seyfried as Joni Mitchell?
Amanda Seyfried is currently promoting Atom Egoyan’s Seven Veils. Here she is in New York after dinner with some friends. Earlier in the day she was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And what’s making headlines from her appearance is the fact that she brought her dulcimer with her and performed Joni Mitchell’s “California”.
There happens to be a Joni Mitchell biopic in development. Cameron Crowe has been working on it for a few years with Joni herself. Last fall he said that he was hoping to start shooting by the end of 2024 and have it released by December 2025. That does not seem to have happened. And there haven’t been all that many casting confirmations. There have been rumours that Meryl Streep is supposed to play Joni later in life. But no word yet on who will play the younger version.
So Amanda going out there on The Tonight Show and throwing this down …
Is this, like, an unofficial audition? Or was it an unofficial announcement? Can you imagine if Meryl and Amanda go from Mamma Mia! to Joni Mitchell? By the way, if you haven’t seen this yet, Amanda is really, really good. We know she can act, we knew she could sing, but this is on a whole other level.
What else happened today…
Natalie Portman was at the Dior show in Paris yesterday, a bad bitch in black, that is such a good jacket dress. (Go Fug Yourself)
I haven’t yet watched the most recent episode of Severance, don’t spoil me! There is so much TV catch-up I have to do – Severance, Paradise, and all my C-dramas. This is Severance related but it won’t spoil you if you, like me, aren't up to date. It’s about how President Barack Obama could have been part of it but Keanu Reeves stepped in instead. (Pajiba)
I am, however, caught up on The White Lotus, it’s the first thing I watched when I got home yesterday because Jacek is obsessed. You know who his favourite character is this season? Chelsea. I don’t blame him. Chelsea is sexy as f-ck. Is Chelsea a killer though? Jessica M Goldstein seems to think so. In her latest Kill-or-be-Killed Report in Vulture she articulates my frustration – that Chelsea is too good for greasy ass loser Rick. (Vulture)
Zac Efron’s brother, Dylan, is the latest sort-of celebrity to admit that he doesn’t shower often. (Celebitchy)
