Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis went for a picnic with their kids this weekend and that was my first question seeing this shot of her holding a bag full of what was presumably picnic food: did she bring the salad? It wasn’t always this cozy and consciously uncoupled between these two. In fact, two years ago it was pretty ugly. Spring 2022, Olivia’s at CinemaCon promoting Don’t Worry Darling and she’s served custody papers when she’s on stage.

Speaking of Don’t Worry Darling, the internet was in shambles all summer over that film and Florence Pugh was done with Olivia over Harry Styles and whether or not Chris Pine spat on Harry Styles in Venice where the film premiered. That was followed by Olivia and Jason’s former nanny running to the Daily Mail with a crazy ass story involving a salad and special salad dressing that Jason was so jealous about he tried to block her from leaving by lying under the car. At which point the salad dressing entered the Gossip Hall of Fame.

People were obsessed with this salad dressing. How good is the salad dressing if it sends a man into a jealous rage?! If you weren’t aware before, it’s Nora Ephron’s recipe from Heartburn. So… back to the picnic… did the salad make it to the picnic?

Olivia by the way recently wrapped on her first directorial project since Don’t Worry Darling. The Invite stars Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz, and Edward Norton, a prestige cast. And an exchange of favours with Seth because, of course, she showed up in an episode of The Studio this season – one of the funniest episodes – playing herself as a director sabotaging her own film. She’s among the list of guest stars and other directors, like Martin Scorsese, who’s been submitted for a guest Emmy nomination with the show. There’s that saying, it goes “this too shall pass”, and in Olivia’s case, it really did.
