Dear Gossips,

It was Thanksgiving here in Canada yesterday and over in New York, two Canadians were on the red carpet at the premiere of Good Fortune: Keanu Reeves and Sandra Oh. When I post about Keanu, I often say that we don’t see a lot of him, since he keeps it low-key when he’s not about promoting him, but that doesn’t apply right now for those of us in Canada.

The most-watched show in Canada right now, though it’s taken a bad turn, is the Blue Jays. And during almost every commercial break during the Jays’ playoff games, it’s Keanu repping Rogers, the official baseball broadcaster and the owner of the team. Keanu’s ads have been running for months but viewership right now, as you can imagine, is super high. So anyone who’s been watching the Jays in the post-season are getting multiple hits of Keanu over the course of three hours pretty much on average every other night the last two weeks, to the point where it’s possible that in some minds, the Jays and Keanu are connected.

I wonder if he knows this, LOL. I doubt he was asked about it on the carpet last night because, well, there probably weren’t all that many Canadians on the press line, and it’s not like Americans would be aware. He was, however, asked about those rumours – since debunked – that he and Alexandra Grant are married. As usual, he answered thoughtfully:

@enews

Keanu Reeves is clearing the air when it comes to the recent marriage rumors with his long-time partner Alexandra Grant.

I love that he used the expression “going out” which dates both him and those of us who respond to it. I don’t know how it was for people growing up in the 80s and 90s in other places but in Toronto, this is how we talked, this was our vernacular. “Going out” was “dating” back in the day, as in… “Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are going out”, LOL. It’s so comforting to me to hear it from someone who was here, then, and that this is the vocabulary that has stayed with him.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
