Sydney Sweeney & Scooter Braun?

The summer of romance 2025 continues… but does this one really count? 

Star Magazine reported exclusively on Friday that Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun are allegedly dating. And this immediately went viral because of both their notoriety. Sydney, of course, is coming off a broken engagement and a racist ad campaign. Scooter is pretty much the most hated music executive in the business – Taylor Swift fans don’t f-ck with him and neither do Justin Bieber fans and BTS fans don’t care for him either. 

It's not that I don’t want to believe and can’t see it. I can totally see it. If Scooter is really Sydney’s new boyfriend, she seems to have a type. Scooter and Jonathan Davino, her ex, are around the same age, they kinda look similar, and there’s a greasy divorcé vibe to both of them. 

Still, I’m side-eyeing this source. There are no real details to the Star Magazine story, apart from them claiming that Scooter is telling his friends that he and Sydney are a thing, the kind of empty unspecific detail that could easily have been made up. What the magazine seems to be jumping off from is this TikTok from the Bozos Bezos wedding when Sydney and Scooter were seen out for a walk with some other people.

Star Magazine is good for one solid scoop a year. Have they met their 2025 quota? Since they broke the story, no other entertainment outlets, at least the credible ones, have been able to follow-up with a confirmation or a shut down. And they would definitely all be chasing it. Page Six did an article about the aforementioned TikTok of Sydney and Scooter in Italy but had no other information about a romance. And obviously Sydney and Scooter haven’t commented. Sydney’s strategy thus far during her career has been to not address rumours immediately. As for Scooter, even if this wasn’t true, it definitely fluffs his ego to even be considered a romantic possibility for the woman who’s basically the fantasy ideal for a certain type of bro-dude. 

Again, I’m not saying this isn’t happening, just that there isn’t enough to go on to believe that it is happening for sure. 

Meanwhile, Sydney will soon be in Toronto for the TIFF world premiere of Christy, playing Christy Martin. She put on a lot of muscle for this role, it’s the kind of physical transformation that many actresses before her have capitalised on, all the way to an Oscar nomination. There’s been some talk about Sydney making a bid for her first nomination on the strength of this performance. Right now, though, just as it in the best actor race, it’s a crowded field so she’ll be trying to build on whatever buzz might come out of TIFF to create some momentum. Does dating Scooter Braun fit in with that plan?
