Sticking with today’s “good vibes only” theme, Dolly Parton appeared at the opening night of her touring show “Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony”, which pairs Dolly’s music with local orchestras, last night in Nashville. It’s been just under three weeks since her husband of sixty years, Carl Dean, passed away.

She made her first public appearance since then at the 40th anniversary opening of Dollywood earlier this week:

This past Friday, Dolly made her first public appearance since the death of Carl Dean on March 3rd. • Dollywood celebrated its 40th anniversary season opening and the Dreamer-in-Chief was there to greet season pass holders! • While opening the park, she thanked the public for their well-wishes in this difficult time. • • • #dollyparton #carldean #dollywood #love #country #queenofcountry #loss #marriage #rip #fyp #foryou #foryoupage @Dolly Parton @Dollywood Parks & Resorts

Dolly isn’t just an icon, she’s a touchstone, a rare celebrity everyone loves, and other musicians put on a pedestal. She’s so admired, Sabrina Carpenter cleaned up a lyric in “Please Please Please” for the Dolly remix released last month. Dolly told Sabrina “I don’t cuss,” so Sabrina removed “motherf-cker” from the song.

Honestly, Dolly and Sabrina collaborating on a remix just made me want them to be in a movie together. They could play a grandmother and her granddaughter. The only question is, who would play the mother/daughter? Dolly and Sabrina are a clear pairing, they’re both short blonde singers with distinctive style. But who fills in the generation between them? And don’t say Scarlett Johansson. Her style isn’t nearly good enough.

What else happened today…

March Madness is upon us, and the NCAA women’s basketball teams just achieved parity with the men’s teams, which have received payment for playing in the tournament since 1991. It only took 34 years! (Popsugar)

Uzo Aduba is serving Sherlock at the premiere of The Residence. (Go Fug Yourself)

Good vibes only! It’s the world’s largest dachshund parade! (Celebitchy)

The history of horror hotlines and phone-phobia in movies. The opening scene of Scream remains one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen. The idea of being unable to call out for help, of dying within moments of rescue because you’ve been silenced…it traumatized me! (Atlas Obscura)
