Emma Stone was at the New York Film Festival last night with husband and business partner Dave McCary for the premiere of A Real Pain. This is Jesse Eisenberg’s film – he wrote, directed, and stars alongside Kieran Culkin so Emma has a long history here with the creatives involved. She and Jesse of course go way back to Zombieland, so this isn’t even the first of his films that she’s produced and she and Kieran might go even further back because of course they dated for a long time when they were much younger and, obviously, remain close.

Here’s Emma greeting Kieran’s wife, Jazz Charton, on the carpet.

As you can see from that video though, Emma is adjusting her hair…doing that thing we’ve all done when we’re wearing a wig. This is 100% a wig, you can see it clearly if you zoom, the lace.

There are also pap shots of her walking around in a toque – you can see those here

So she’s shaved her head. And she happens to be working on a new project right now – yet another collaboration with Yorgos Lanthimos, Bugonia. This is an adaptation of 2003 cult classic Korean film, Save the Green Planet and the remake is a co-production between the Korean film company that made the original and Ari Aster’s company. Will Tracy (Succession, The Menu) adapted the screenplay and Emma and Jesse Plemons are reuniting after Kinds of Kindness as co-stars, playing two conspiracy theorists who kidnap the CEO of a pharmaceuticals company because they think he’s an alien who will destroy the world.

Bugonia will be released November 2025 which means, not surprisingly, that it will be an award season contender. And it looks like Emma’s character will have a shaved head which she is keeping concealed because, naturally, let’s not see it until they’re ready for us to see it.
