Jon Bernthal is having a busy year. He had The Accountant 2 out earlier this year, he filmed Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, plus The Bear season four recently premiered, and he just earned his third Emmy nomination as a guest actor for The Bear—he won last year. It is extremely dubious calling Bernthal’s performance as the late Mikey Berzatto “comedic”, but Bernthal IS very good in the role. Every time he pops up, he makes a huge difference. Thus, all the Emmy attention.

And, of course, he has returned to the world of Marvel, appearing in Daredevil: Born Again and gearing up to co-star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Currently, though, Bernthal is at work in New York filming a new Punisher “special” for Disney+. Not only is Bernthal starring once again as Frank Castle, this time, he’s also co-writing for the TV movie or whatever we’re calling it when Marvel makes a one-off for Disney+. Very interested to see how that level of input from Bernthal, who is VERY protective of this character, influences the new thingamajig.

Enjoy these photos of a bearded Jon Bernthal in a slutty little hoodie as the Punisher. I have to be honest, this is a look that works for me. This look is 90% of my ex-boyfriends. Not sure what that says about me.

What else happened today…

What’s it like when your sibling is a sex symbol? Apparently, no one really wants to talk about it. Can’t imagine why! (Popsugar)

In honor of Clueless’s 30th anniversary, let’s take a look back at the premiere in 1995. It’s very Nineties! Also, obviously, jokes aside, Paul Rudd HAS aged, but at the same time…he looks the same. Largely unchanged. I’m sure at this point, in his 50s, he’s had SOMETHING done to his face, intensive facials/peels/lasers if nothing else. But it is good work, premium work, maybe the BEST work. Because Paul Rudd has never not looked like Paul Rudd, no matter how old he gets. (Go Fug Yourself)

British media people are taste-testing Duchess Meghan’s new As Ever rosé. I love rosé, it’s my go-to wine order, I’d be curious to try this one because everyone is talking about the “heat” from the higher than usual alcohol content. But I am also reminded of April Ludgate’s timeless remark: “all alcohol tastes the same”. Call me unsophisticated—and Gwyneth Paltrow probably would!—but I can never taste all these fruits sommeliers go on about. It’s acidic or sweet, the end. (Celebitchy)

Speaking of Clueless’s 30th anniversary, a bit of shameless self-promotion. I wrote a retrospective for the film on The Squawk and I’m super proud of it. Come for the incisive criticism of a classic from the cinema of girlhood, stay for my scathing opinions about College Boy Josh pining for his sixteen-year-old ex-stepsister. He shouldn’t! It’s gross and weird! Go back to college, Josh! (The Squawk)
