Eric Dane’s “biggest champion”

Rebecca Gayheart was photographed yesterday in LA and she’s in the headlines today because of the biggest entertainment stories is Eric Dane’s appearance on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer. It’s his first television sit-down interview since he revealed he has ALS back in April. If you haven’t already, the video is below, the first of two parts as tomorrow GMA will air the second featuring Eric with his doctor as they’re trying to raise more awareness about the disease, the research to find a cure, and what they’ve learned about possible causes. 

In the part that aired today, Eric takes Diane through the experience, from when his symptoms first started to where he’s at today. He also shares a heartbreaking story about swimming with his daughter and how she had to come rescue him because he couldn’t make it back to the boat. This would be devastating for anyone but especially someone who used to be a competitive swimmer. Diane also asks him about his support system, and this is where he gets emotional, Rebecca is the only person he names and he says they talk every day, that they “have managed to become better friends and better parents. And she is probably my biggest champion, my most stalwart supporter, and I lean on her."

Eric and Rebecca announced their separation back in 2018 but just this March she dismissed the divorce filing. A month later is when Eric shared that he’d been diagnosed with ALS.
