Dear Gossips,

The Mnet Asia Music Awards, aka the MAMA Awards, are happening this Friday and Saturday November 28 and 29 in Hong Kong. This event is considered the Grammys of K-pop and since Kpop Demon Hunters was one of the biggest movies of the year, worldwide, there will be a special KPDH performance during the show.

EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami are already booked for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City so instead, MAMA producers have recruited K-pop idols to perform as Huntr/x and the Saja Boys. That lineup was announced today. In addition to the performers, Arden Cho, who voiced the speaking parts for Rumi, and Ahn Hyo-seop, who voiced the speaking parts for Jinu, were already confirmed as presenters earlier this month.

Ahn Hyo-seop was seen at the airport departing for Hong Kong today. As the kids say, this outfit, his gait, and his general energy is so boyfriend, translation: attractive.

Also just dropping today – Hyo-seop on the cover of Esquire Korea in a collaboration with Bentley.

This face? Stop it, it’s too much.

In other KPDH news, it was ruled ineligible for the BAFTAs a few weeks ago despite an appeal by Netflix because the British Academy didn’t think the movie played in enough theatres.

Late last week, though, the Oscar Academy confirmed officially that Kpop Demon Hunters will be eligible for the Oscars, opening the door to multiple nominations including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Golden”). The critics associations and review boards will start announcing their winners right after the American Thanksgiving break, and the Critics Choice and Golden Globe nominations are coming very soon too. We’ll see if the BAFTAs are the only award stop Kpop Demon Hunters will be missing.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
