I don’t think Sarah Jessica Parker reads a lot of press around And Just Like That… but maybe this article, “Is And Just Like That… Written by ChatGPT?”, is making the rounds in the group chat. It’s something fans have been asking since the season premiered, but the dad who died twice really tipped a lot of people over the edge.
We can talk about all of the very odd storylines (Anthony’s sexual harassment suit-in-waiting bakery, the poly teen relationship, Wyatt’s mom asking Carrie to secure street meds for her son) and but what has really struck me is how much Carrie has shrunk. She’s incredibly wealthy but so petty and voiceless. Maybe that’s why her wardrobe isn’t quite hitting the same spots it used to? Fashion critic Rachel Tashjian wonders if Carrie has lost her magic touch and it speaks to how lost the show, and the character, is.
Johnny Depp has been getting a lot of neutral-to-positive press lately, particularly this piece in the Sunday Times. Even if we put aside the Amber Heard trial, that entire period of Johnny’s life was marked by chaos and huge financial issues. It was very messy and involved multiple lawsuits with managers. Yes his marriage was part of his “image problem” but he was also making sh-t movies and spending like a maniac, reportedly using ear pieces and had to settle a lawsuit for allegedly punching someone on a film crew.
He has taken a few years to let it blow over and the question now is: will Disney take him back? Because that is the goal here. That is the golden ticket.
Jack White does not have iPhone face. Until this week, he didn’t even have an iPhone. In fact, he didn’t have any kind of cell phone, which is pretty amazing. Did he use a real camera for photos or was he the guy who pulls out an iPad to snap a shot? I don’t know if he had an iPad but I kind of have a soft spot for iPad picture takers. They are like the lamplighters of technology. Not the same as “speaker phone in public” people.
Is Paradise on track for an early 2026 premiere? That would line it up with last season and a year break is actually considered short in this TV landscape. I think it will go for six seasons and eventually lose the plot but we are having fun, that’s all that matters. Prior to watching, I was not familiar with Julianne Nicholson (I didn’t remember her from Mare of Eastown, I didn’t realize it was her until I googled her name). She plays a great baddie on Paradise but what I want to talk about is Hacks, which is very different. She plays a Canadian TikTok influencer, Dance Mom. It’s great.
