It was predictable – the moment it was revealed on Saturday that Florence Pugh would be presenting with Andrew Garfield, you knew social media would have something to say about it. Good things to say about it.
Flo is an internet favourite. There’s a corner of Twitter that is obsessed with her. Same goes for Andrew Garfield. So the reaction to them being on stage together, and whispering to each other during Sarah Polley’s acceptance speech ….

…suffice to say it’s the opposite of how the internet felt about her relationship with Zach Braff.
Are we all shipping Flo and Andrew (FloField?) now? Is this what the people want?
I can’t be a contrarian here because, yes, I’m feeling the f-ck energy between them too. They were, indeed, impossibly cute together. They seem like they’d have a great time together. At the very least, the internet wants them in a movie together. I wouldn’t be mad at that either.
Flo’s Oscar look, however, is a little more divisive. As noted in today’s site open, it seemed like people were taking a few more risks than usual at on the Oscar red carpet this year than we’ve seen in the past. Florence is one such example. She’s in Valentino – a pair of booty shorts underneath a sand-grey coloured taffeta … wrap? Do we call it a wrap?!
Maybe it’s advance dressing to promote Dune 2, that’s what I thought when I saw it, and I didn’t mind it. Not my favourite fit of the night, but what I did appreciate was that risk. That she didn’t go with something boring and standard to what we typically see at this event. That she wants to have fun with her clothes, even at the Oscars, which is part of what has made her so appealing off-screen, why there’s such an intense fanbase stanning her every move.
As for non-romantic Florence gossip, apparently she and Olivia Wilde had zero contact on Friday night at the CAA Oscar party. Kept their distance, even though it was Olivia’s birthday, and at one point Olivia blew out candles on her birthday cake, there was no interaction between them.
