I last posted about Florence Pugh last week when she attended the Tiffany & Co event and what I said was that for sure she’d be in Valentino given her close relationship with the house. So it wasn’t a surprise that she wore Valentino. The surprise was that she shaved her head.
It’s giving Eve Salvail who was seen often with her head shaved on the Chanel runway in the 90s.

The dress on Florence is whatever. Obviously the whole point here is the headpiece and the buzzed hair. Which happened on the day. Because Flo was hanging out with Ashley Park on Monday morning and Flo’s hair was still blonde and still chin length.

It’s the kind of fashion commitment Karl would have probably appreciated. But, interestingly, Flo is still in production on We Live In Time with Andrew Garfield. They were filming as recently as this past weekend – you can see photos of that here. A drastic haircut like this could f-ck sh-t up for the hair and makeup team … unless, of course, it works with the character and her story. And now there’s speculation that she’s playing someone who is living with a medical condition.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas were also in Valentino. The Met Gala, of course, is where they first met, a year before they started dating. It was Priyanka’s first Met Gala, both of them wearing Ralph Lauren, and they talked about with Emma Chamberlain on the carpet last night. I really like the ribbon in Priyanka’s hair – to me this is the most Chanel feature of her look.
If Chanel is black and white, Valentino is red. And red Valentino was repped last night by Pedro Pascal. He was one of the few people who showed up in red last night, so it was a risk…and it paid off.
There are a lot of risks happening here – not just with the colour but in the shorts and mid-calf socks. Not everyone can make this work… but not everyone is Pedro Pascal. You need confidence for this. You need to own it. And he is f-cking owning it.

But the best Valentino, for me, was Stephanie Hsu. We saw her serving look after look during award season but this, this is next level.

I LOVE the collar on this sequined black and white gown. I love the decision to go punk with the makeup and the black lip. I love that she was putting those pockets to good use. What an impressive debut at her first Met Gala.
