A rebrand is in the works at the vagina candle headquarters. Before we look forward, let’s look at the past and present: struggling skin care that is moving into Ulta (which Puck News called a “Hail Mary”), a makeup line, luxury fashion, a Netflix series, brick and mortar stores, travel recommendations, dubious medical advice, trendy wellness clickbait, a podcast (sometimes hosted by GP, sometimes not), a second podcast hosted by men, a run at print with Conde Nast, conferences (sometimes hosted by GP, sometimes not), meal delivery kits and a newsletter that seems to come and go depending on the team’s attention span (for now, it’s back).

Goop is leaning hard into GP (she has wiped her personal Instagram in anticipation) and it’s not like there are other options; the only place it can go is back to her because goop has not established any other cultural stars. Vogue has Anna Wintour but also other well-known and glamorous people, like the late André Leon Talley, and a rotation of tastemakers like Grace Coddington, Hamish Bowles, Plum Sykes, along with multiple photographers. Goop starts and ends with GP, despite her many interviews saying she wants the company to be able to flourish without her. It is more reliant on her fame than ever. Where is the continued VC investment, the talks to acquire the brand, the superstar editorial team, the in-house designer, the licensing deals? It seems rudderless. And as has been pointed out, chronically unprofitable. That is where Julia Hunter, a new partner, comes in. She is supposed to cut waste and drive up profits. The rebrand teasers heavily feature Apple— is goop is turning into a family business?

At the time of writing, As ever’s second drop (which coincided with the second season of With Love, Meghan) is still available. Good timing for the show and product drop.

Bobby Berk announced his new HGTV show (which is interesting, as HGTV has been cutting back on programming with its usual roster of big names) just as Queer Eye’s cancellation was announced.

The history here is messy because Bobby felt pushed out by the cast and they swiftly replaced him with a friend. But I still don’t think he timed his announcement to rub it in their faces because TV timing is weird and slow, so his show would have been in the works for months. That doesn’t mean he can’t be feeling a certain way about it. How could this not lead to a tinge of smugness? Like a teeny bit?

What the hell happened at Balthazar? Now I need to see the original post. But I did enjoy this post because if you are going to talk sh-t on your Instagram, that’s also where you need to offer an all-caps apology.

Eric Stonestreet is a die-hard Kansas City fan so I’m not surprised that he got an invite to Patrick Mahomes’s and Travis Kelce’s new restaurant, but I am surprised he was allowed to post the invite because we know when there is a possibility “she” will be there, a crowd will follow. A big crowd.
