Intro for November 19, 2025
Dear Gossips,
Every day lately I’ve been hearing “Man I Need” at least three times, not complaining. What a year it’s been for Olivia Dean. Her album, The Art of Loving, dropped a few weeks after the hit single and the reviews were near ecstatic. Also hard to believe it hasn’t even been two months? September 26 (my birthday!) was the release date but Olivia makes music that you feel like you’ve been hearing your whole life. And now Olivia Dean is a Grammy nominee.
She’s contending for Best New Artist, Rolling Out just published a piece about how she’s a frontrunner in the category and it reads like an endorsement for why she’s the right candidate to win.
And, of course, she just killed it this past weekend on Saturday Night Live. She writes, she produces, that voice, and also the f-cking stage presence – Olivia is an electrifying performer, the camera is powerless in her presence, you might as well lock off the shot and call it a day because there’s no reason to shoot anything or anyone else when she’s around. Like with the wind in her hair and the way the notes seem to arrange themselves spontaneously in the atmosphere, almost as if they’re being heard for the first time coming out of her body? It’s ridiculous.
Last night Olivia was in Australia for the Aria Awards. It’s no surprise that she now has the attention of the fashion community. Here she is in a gorgeous black Richard Quinn dress that she said she flew 24 hours to wear.
And a few weeks ago, she was dressed by Thom Brown for the CFDAs in two looks: a yellow column…

…and a black and white cocktail – look at how beautifully pleated this is, diagonally coming across her body.

Guaranteed, if her schedule allows, she’ll be at the Met Gala next May. As for that schedule though, pre-sale tickets for her North American tour just went on sale yesterday and sold out, so they’re adding more dates. General sale is tomorrow and I’m going to try but the way it’s looking, I don’t think it’s going to happen. Olivia Dean’s ascent is only just beginning.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
