As Duana just wrote in her Emmys Best Dressed post about Da’Vine Joy Randolph, it was no surprise that she’d choose the brightest look of the night. And you could say the same for me. It should be no surprise who my best dressed is on multiple counts.

First, it’s just a f-cking great outfit. But also…like most of the style addicts on the internet, I have a very serious Greta Lee problem. I mean, how can you not appreciate Greta + Loewe/Jonathan Anderson?! It’s the baddest, every single time:

The way it moved on her! The way the dress is at once formal but also… kinda casual? It’s the way the material is roped loosely around her neck, like how we’d absentmindedly throw a scarf on before heading out the door. And the way her skin glows against the white of it, in a material that has no sparkle but seems to shimmer, because it’s expensive AF.

But also, there’s some comedy here. Because one of our ETALK producers, Nigel, describe it as a swan dress this morning at our meeting. And there is a strong swan vibe which of course brings this to mind:

Which is what makes it funny, now that you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it.

Greta is styled by Danielle Goldberg, who also works with Ayo Edebiri. Here’s a cute moment between the two last night. Our babies!

Ayo’s dress, by the way, is custom Bottega Veneta, not a house we hear often on red carpets because they’re very selective, very exclusive. And that tells you what a fashion girly Ayo has become.

Back to Greta’s look though, on a night when there were crazy ass jewels on star after star, she also stood out in this department. The dress allowed her to be bold with her accessories and, for me, hers were my favourite. These blue stones are popping so big against the white. That giant oval diamond has never been showcased more extravagantly. And those earrings, which could have read a little old-timey and costume on anyone else, are about as modern and edgy as they’ll ever be, without compromising on luxury.

I don’t know why she chose to change into a much less special look to present. Maybe it was practicality, or maybe it was a flex. Because what the white dress doesn’t do is flaunt the body. And that body, well, I’m sure you’ve seen the Calvin Klein ads. But if you haven’t, let me bring you up to my level of horny on this Monday morning.
