Gwyneth Paltrow’s questionable tights
The Valentino runway show was yesterday in Rome. Given the legacy name of the house, and Alessandro Michele’s tenure as creative director, it brought out some celebrities even on the cusp of Oscar, starting with Gwyneth Paltrow (who will have to get back to LA to present on Oscar night).
She turned up in a bright green minidress with blue shoes and white patterned tights. Please, no, I cannot.

I have held two (2) consistent fashion opinions in my life, and they are 1) everyone should wear whatever cut of jeans they feel best in, and 2) white tights are the devil’s garments. I am in my fifth decade waging war against white tights. I didn’t like them when I was a flower girl in my cousin’s wedding in the early 1990s, and I don’t like them now. I get it, the outfit is very Alessandro Michele—mixing patterns and colors and a touch of mod—I just don’t think anyone can actually pull off white tights. I think they’re a trick you play on people you don’t like.
Much more my speed is Colman Domingo in a great suede jacket:

Speaking of coats, by way of jackets, Severance star Britt Lower turned up in a great trench. Just as I think all white tights are bad, I think all trench coats are good.

On a similar theme, Lily Allen has a GREAT bomber jacket and a deeply questionable skirt (dress?). The bomber is SO good, I wish the rest of the outfit was less distracting.

Do you see what I mean about white tights being a trick? Everyone else gets a cool ass coat, but Gwyneth Paltrow gets WHITE TIGHTS. She did, however, post a nice tribute to Valentino, who passed away in January.
Sure, she’s making it all about her, but I don’t think I expect better from Gwyneth at this point. I legit don’t think she can talk about someone else without relating it back to herself. It’s a big reason why she’s insufferable! Anyway, Gwyneth has a history of big fashion moments at the Oscars. Do you think she’ll wear Valentino, to honor her late friend?
