Gwyneth, Apple, and Emma

There was another premiere in New York for Marty Supreme last night and Gwyneth Paltrow showed up in a black velvet custom Valentino and it’s luxurious and understated, which is not usually Alessandro Michele’s vibe, and I like it. This, however, is not the most interesting black dress on the carpet where GP is concerned. 

She attended the premiere with her children, Apple and Moses, the first time both of her kids have joined her at a film premiere. It looks like Brad Falchuk’s son and daughter were also there with her. 

As for Apple’s dress – it’s Calvin Klein and I just wrote about this dress a couple of weeks ago at The Squawk in a piece about press tour wardrobes, did I conjure her?! 

Gwyneth originally wore it for the premiere of Emma in 1996 and as I said in that post, with her hair up and the black headband, it was beyond – then and now. You will note, Apple is also wearing her hair side-parted and up with a black headband. 

We’ve seen so many instances of celebrities doing tribute looks of other celebrities this year, from Jenna Ortega wearing Carrie Bradshaw to Amanda Seyfried and Julia Roberts just a day apart in Venice to Emma Stone channelling Gwyneth in Great Expectations a few weeks ago. Gwyneth just opened her closet and let her daughter raid it and it’s as close of a match as we’ve seen. I wonder if we’ll ever see Apple pull out the infamous McQueen that Gwyneth wore to the Oscars in 2022. It was provocative at the time because of the nipples. Now? Practically pedestrian.
