Halle Berry made headlines earlier this week at the Cannes jury press conference when she revealed that she had to make a last minute wardrobe change to accommodate the new dress code that discouraged big ballgowns. Here she is last night at the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning gala in a fluffy dress that takes up some space but not all the space.

This is Celia Kritharioti and I like that the puffs gathered in the front kinda remind me of bloomers. What I don’t like is I think, on Halle, the dimensions are off. I wish they had hitched the puffs up shorter, to expose more leg. That said, it gets better for me when I zoom in… because you can see the pattern on pink, and it’s almost like pyjamas, or bed linens. Like she’s wrapped a duvet around her waist, just without the weight. It’s the kind of over-the-top fashion swing you take in Cannes, and I’m not mad at it.

In the opposite direction, there’s Zoë Saldaña in Saint Laurent, relatively undramatic in comparison. Just a black tank dress with a leather jacket worn off the shoulders. By Cannes standards, this is super tame.

What else happened today…

Kayleigh Donaldson writes about Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner and all the conspiracy theories that theirs is a contract relationship which is bananas. But as she points out, two famous people being attracted to each other is boring. And every relationship – everything period – is met with suspicion these days, it’s our current normal. (Pajiba)

The Fug Girls want to know if this is too much on Busy Philipps and my answer is no. It’s not too much because I feel like most people would take away the socks but the socks make the look for me because the dress needs a sense of humour. Does that mean I like it overall? No. But my issue, again, is with the dress. I really hate the pattern on that dress. (GoFugYourself)

Oh my GOD, we are still talking about Meghan Sussex and Kate Middleton being upset at each other over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.(Celebitchy)

I rarely shop in person – most of my shopping is done online. There’s now new tech in change rooms at retail stores. Can’t decide how I feel about this. Are you into it? (The Mary Sue)

I’m linking to an article about Seol In Ah’s new drama, Oh My Ghost Clients, which Jacek will laugh about while he’s posting this because nothing amuses him more than the titles to Korean dramas. His favourite is What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim. I will be watching Oh My Ghost Clients because I love In Ah, she’s so cute and I’m happy she’s getting lead character opportunities but the real reason I’m sharing this here is because I am f-cking obsessed with her haircut and really wish I could wear mine like this but it needs so much day-to-day professional styling, more than I’m capable of. Still, it’s SO GOOD. (Soompi)
