What Else?
Zendaya is getting some rest somewhere after weeks and weeks of SO much press and promotion. I still see her everywhere though. First of all she covers Vogue Australia and Law Roach has posted the images and the behind-the-scenes but also, as summer approaches, tennis core is everywhere, including on Hannah Waddingham who looks aces in this tennis vest over white trousers. “King Charles has never found fatherhood easy” is quite a source quote. And while I know that Mother’s Day in England is not the same as Mother’s Day in North America, there are no borders or oceans where headlines are concerned these days. So having a source say some sh-t like this on behalf the king this weekend in particular is baffling. What is easy anyway? Is parenting EVER easy? Nobody becomes a parent because it’s f-cking easy. I’m not a parent and even I can say this. But it’s an even more stupid thing to say when the whole mess over the last few years has been about the king’s son, Prince Harry, feeling unsupported. And for some reason his allies thought it was a good idea to explain this by telling us that he’s “never found fatherhood easy”?! I know I keep asking this question but… HOW IS THIS A GOOD LOOK!? WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE SO STUPID?!!! (Celebitchy)
There was a joke on SNL this weekend, when the cast members brought out their mothers, that most people watch on Sunday and that felt real to me because, yeah, lately I have been watching on Sundays. I will always, always watch it, but not necessarily on Saturday night. Anyway Maya Rudolph was back at Studio 8H this week and, well, it’s Maya, it’s never going to suck when Maya is around. Maya IS indeed MOTHER. (Pajiba)
Look, I know that airplane seats are getting tighter and tighter. I am a short person and even I feel confined on some of these planes. But… like… I have never, ever, ever considered sleeping in the overhead compartment, WTFFFFF? How did this person even get up there?! And also that’s where the carry-on goes and everyone is always fighting for carry-on space so, like, did someone have to check their bag because this person took up the space?! (Hollywood Unlocked)
My favourite read of the day is the New York Times story about Beethoven and analysing his hair, all these centuries later, to find out what ailed him. It’s fascinating and I sent it to Sarah because I knew this would be her kink and she wrote back in the most Sarah way possible: “Lead, arsenic, and mercury, the olden times trifecta of accidental poisoning. Thinking back on it, I'm actually kind of amazed at the Met gal that nobody referenced arsenic dresses. The ultimate one and done fashion!” (NYT)
