Heated Rivalry x Bridgerton x TSITP x Bowen: An Epic LNY Crossover
I last posted about Hudson Williams on Wednesday, after he was seen in New York at the Knicks game with his mom. In that post I talked about Hudson’s birthday, which is today, and Valentine’s Day, and Lunar New Year, which is next Tuesday and wondered if the trip was a celebration of all those milestones and holidays…and it is.
Hudson was with eomonim at the Gold House Lunar New Year party last night.

And it was also a birthday party for him.
And a party for so many Asians in entertainment, an Asian spectacular – because Gold House gave us a mega Asian pop culture crossover with Heated Rivalry, Bridgerton, and The Summer I Turned Pretty. As you can see from the video I just posted above, Yerin Ha, Bridgerton’s new leading lady, co-hosted with Hudson last night.
Yerin seemed to have manifested this moment, because a couple of weeks ago, during the press tour for Bridgerton season four, she was asked about her current obsession:
@asiavrs aaa i hope they’ll meet someday 🥹‼️ #hudsonwilliams #yerinha #heatedrivalry #bridgerton #blowthisup ♬ original sound - dolse - hudson’s gf (real)
From then to now, it didn’t take long, and they’re hanging out already, enjoying their breakout success together. Heated Rivalry and Bridgerton are two shows that celebrate “yearning”, a candidate for the word of the year. The Summer I Turned Pretty is also part of the yearning collective, and also a series with an Asian actor in the lead role. Lola Tung was at Gold House, too.
Here’s a video of Lola with Hudson, the “man after midnight” ringing in his birthday, ever the chaos gremlin.

“Chaos gremlin” is what Sarah calls him in her new essay about “the unifying theory of chaotic Canadians”, Hudson and KEANU REEVES, for The Squawk that was published this week. If you haven’t read it yet, you’re missing out.
Going back to Hudson and Yerin and Lola though…
THIS IS IMPORTANT.
In so many ways!
To have not just one, not two, but three stars of Asian descent headlining smash hit projects in the same year, at the start of their careers, and already they’re in community, connecting with each other, relating to each other. Individual success is wonderful, and it has happened here and there for Asian artists. But concurrent success is vital, it makes the experience less lonely. The fact that Lola, Hudson, and Yerin can each claim this spotlight with their respective series, and are living through the craziness that accompanies it, and can look to each other and be kinda like…oh yeah, you too, could be hugely helpful.
Plus… Bowen Yang!
Bowen plus Hudson is breaking my internet right now – we don’t have access to those photos but you can see them here. They’re in the group shot shared by Prabal Gurung. Look at Bowen’s horse jacket!
We’ll end with Hudson, since it is his birthday, and if we know anything about him it’s that he will always get down and grind, dance like everybody is watching.
