Last year she rocked it in a Christian Lacroix. Last night she looked like she should have stayed home and needlepointed the evening away.
In person, this dress was a disaster.
I realise in photos and on tv, you were seeing the hot lights from the cameras and the set creating sparkle where there was very little. But without the benefit of the embellishment, Helen’s sleeves were simply crocheted doilies going up and down her arm. It was weird. Immediate scent association: moth balls. Not sweet.
Helen being Helen however she did give the best introduction of the night. I get off on hearing her talk. It’s really, really too bad about the gown though.
But did you love the way she and Daniel Day-Lewis walked off stage arm in arm? That woman is a maneater!
