Dear Gossips,

WHAT DID KENNY DO?!?! is the question everyone invested in Love Island USA has been asking since Sunday. And we are no longer a niche group. Kenny Rodriguez is from season six, considered the best season of Love Island anywhere ever. It’s the season that put the American version of the show over the top, with all three final couples staying together beyond their time in Fiji – and it’s been a full year.

Well, not anymore.

JaNa Craig and Kenny were at David Dobrik’s party on Saturday night, seemingly fine. They were photographed at the event, they were posting on socials with each other… and then the next day, Sunday, a mass unfollowing ensued. JaNa’s besties, Serena Page and Leah Kateb unfollowed Kenny, and so did their boyfriends and fellow islanders, Kordell Beckham and Harichi. Basically everyone from season six one by one hit the unfollow button. But also Ariana Madix and the network, Peacock. So it must have been bad.

Then yesterday, JaNa finally broke her silence, posting a message to stories making it clear that this is not a conscious uncoupling:

“Terrible, disgusting, and disappointing” and the “relationship […] hasn’t been genuine” further fueled speculation that Kenny’s crimes were not misdemeanors. But then he tried to save himself with his own post…

And JaNa was not having it because she tagged him and dragged him:

Which opened the door for her girls to jump in. “Chat GPT headass” is exactly why Leah Kateb is one of the most popular Love Islanders of all time.

Liv jumped in too, and Serena left a comment calling Kenny a “narcissist and a racist” so now we know a little more about why he’s been excommunicated so dramatically. The rumour is that at some point on Saturday night, JaNa got hold of his group chat and confirmed that he’s been using her this whole time, never really wanted to be with her, and allegedly called her the n-word to his friends.

This is obviously the worst for JaNa but it’s also a mess for the network, because Peacock still has a few episodes of Beyond the Villa to air in which JaNa and Kenny are still a couple, but none of that f-cking matters now since it’s blown open that he’s a fraud. Then again, it’s not like Peacock, which is affiliated with Bravo, doesn’t have experience with reality stars and their drama. Bravo was basically built on and for moments like this, they’re probably trying to plan a reunion episode.

But as Stephanie has written many times in her reality show coverage here on our site, how do you balance the insatiable fan curiosity with humanity? JaNa is a real person, she’s been badly hurt, and there’s a spotlight on her pain. I’m not saying the audience doesn’t care about her feelings, of course we do, but at the same time, it’s also playing out like entertainment. Almost everyone loses in this situation – and the only winner here is, as usual, the network.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
