Following their tour stop in Japan earlier this week, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are now in Korea. And, obviously, there were multiple outfits.

Here they in black and red leather – Annie’s in Balenciaga, that slouchy leather jacket is insane. This was at the premiere.

It was the other way around earlier in the day at the press conference, though, with Meryl in red (Prada, of course) and Annie in an off-white voluminous corset over black pants.

This was Meryl’s first time in Korea. But as she shared during the presser, she’s become increasingly familiar with Korean culture lately through her grandchildren. I love what she says here about culture and connection. Yes, Kpop Demon Hunters has made its way into Meryl Streep’s life!

She seemed particularly moved when she and Anne were presented each with a one-of-a-kind pair of shoes inspired by The Devil Wears Prada, but make it Korean. Look at the way she inhales and shakes her head in disbelief/gratitude/emotion at the end of this video.

And later, per Annie’s request, she gave the people what they wanted. Some people might find this tiresome, perhaps in the west, but I find it charming, that when in the East, where fan service is what they do, she hasn’t been too serious to oblige, and keep obliging. 

Part of Meryl and Anne’s Korean schedule also included an upcoming appearance on You Quiz On The Block, hosted by Yoo Jae Seok. For those who are unfamiliar, Yoo Jae Seok is considered the “Nation’s MC” in Korea, more popular, more beloved, than almost every idol. He hosts multiple variety and talk shows, like Ryan Seacrest in America, except nobody hates Jae Seok, arguably the most beloved Korean celebrity for many, many years running.

So many Hollywood stars have made their way onto his shows when they’re in Korea for promotion. But there is one star he seems to love the most. He calls her “Meryl noona”.

I can’t wait to watch this episode. I can’t wait to see how he reacts to meeting her. I can’t wait to see how she reacts to him.

By the way, more people will know about Yoo Jae Seok soon because his new show Jae-seok's B&B Rules! is premiering on Netflix in the next few months, which will be his seventh or eighth (NOT A TYPO!) ongoing series in production. And, I repeat, they are not sick of him, this is his impact!
