Fantastic and Freaky

There was a Fantastic Four and Freakier Friday crossover this weekend in LA, a fun co-marketing strategy for both movies and it makes sense on multiple levels. First, it’s all the “Fs” – Fast & Furious no longer dominates this letter as F4 and Freakier Friday are here to take over “F” for 2025. 

Also, both are Disney properties so this, too, is a “family” situation, LOL. And the “family” theme plays out in both movies, as Fantastic Four has been going hard on the idea of family throughout the promotional run and, of course, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are mom and daughter body-switchers. And, of course, Jamie Lee and Ebon Moss-Bachrach have an extra connection through The Bear. 

The timing worked out too – Fantastic Four and Freakier Friday junketed together this weekend at the same location, with reporters covering both movies at the same time. So, with all this convenience, here’s the group shot. 

Fantastic Four opens this weekend, Freakier Friday two weeks later on August 8. Fantastic Four is looking, right now, to get to $100 million on opening weekend and Freakier Friday is currently projected to open around $25 million with an upside. It’ll be interesting to see how strong the nostalgia is for this movie, because even though she made a cameo in Mean Girls 2024, this is her first studio theatrical release in a while in a starring role. 

Of course it’s not that Lindsay hasn’t been steadily working, but for the last few years, her movies have been straight to streaming, Netflix rom-coms that are their equivalent of Hallmark movies. A studio theatrical movie is a whole different ballgame. If the box office comes through, we’ll see what that means for her career in terms of the casting opportunities that might come her way. 

And Lilo is ready. The cheekbones and the jawline are ready. Attached – Lilo and JLC hanging out while doing press this weekend and Lindsay serving another look at a photo shoot during the junket. 

Here’s a coincidence and it’s unintentionally gossipy…or maybe it is actually is a conspiracy…  but Freakier Friday is coming out the same weekend as It Ends With Us last year. And you’ll recall, Blake Lively was all about the florals during that press tour. Lindsay’s florals are much less controversial, but also… an “F” word!
