Taylor Swift was back in the suite at Arrowhead yesterday for the Kansas City game against Houston. My algorithm has been different since I’ve been in Brazil – it’s not serving me the usual, which means I was late on this news about Taylor and what actually showed up in my feeds first wasn’t the fact that she was at the game to support Travis Kelce but that he couldn’t hold onto a pass that ended up being a critical point in how the game turned out – a loss for his team. 

 

Don’t come for me, American football fans, I’m just piecing together what social media is telling me. Which is that KC might not make the playoffs and, um, a lot of memes using this image. 

 

My interest is not American football, it is TNT, and how Travis’s professional setbacks might affect their relationship. After all, they themselves have made the similarity in their careers a talking point, even in the trailers for The Eras Tour docuseries, there’s a scene in which Taylor and Travis are on the phone, comparing their respective approaches. 

It’s a good test, however, of who this “vibes guy” will be as he confronts not just in this moment of adversity – apparently Kansas City’s chances of making the playoffs now are very slim – but the imminent reality of no longer doing the only job he’s ever had. And what impact that has on his identity as an individual and as one half of this couple. Because, of course, Taylor will never stop doing her job, and she’s never lost in this job either. 

 

But first, the wedding. And all the recent rumours that they’re to be married on June 13, the most obvious date given that it’s her lucky number and falls on a Saturday in 2026. It’s also the perfect decoy day if we want to start playing these games but since we’re here, let’s talk about Selena Gomez joining Taylor in the suite yesterday for the first time, and making her way to Kansas City …just for the game?

 

Or maybe we can start a new rumour – that Selena was actually in town to plan the wedding with Taylor, and went to the game as a bonus. Lena Dunham and Taylor are obviously still close because she was there too. 

Leonardo DiCaprio was also in Travis’s suite, not as a guest of Taylor but probably as a guest of Travis himself, although this is funny considering the way Taylor has talked about him in her lyrics. 

 

Getting on a PJ for one regular season game is a choice, because with all due respect to Kansas City, it’s not like it’s the kind of destination where Leo can rock up to the kind of parties he prefers to attend. As expected, Leo was just nominated for a Golden Globe this morning for his performance in One Battle After Another, in the comedy/musical category. Travis and Jason’s New Heights podcast was not shortlisted in the new podcast category. Leo was a guest on New Heights back in September and, more and more, New Heights is attracting the kind of celebrity interviews that so many of the nominated pods are known for. It’ll be interesting to see if next year, especially if Travis retires, the celebrity content will grow. And if there will be more celebrity women invited on the show too.
