Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have had an ongoing rivalry since time immemorial. Despite the fact that they are good friends, and Hugh Jackman is notoriously a nice guy, the two have been constantly shooting back at each other with tweets, videos, and pictures. Sometimes, they even bring in other people like Jake Gyllenhaal and John Krasinski. Joanna wrote about this back in November where she ERRONEOUSLY titled it “Team Hugh Jackman.” Obviously, Team Ryan Reynolds is superior (I mean he’s Canadian and from Vancouver!), but it’s okay because everyone, even Joanna, makes mistakes. I forgive you Joanna, and I’m sure Ryan would too. Hugh and Ryan’s friendly “feud” has featured several jokes and jabs about each other’s work and personalities. This has resulted in things like a political style smear campaign and even an interview hijacking. The most recent reference to this feud happened two weeks ago when Ryan Reynolds commented on people comparing female Hugh Jackman to Blake Lively:
Female Hugh Jackman kinda looks like Ryan Reynolds' wife Blake Lively and now I can't unsee it pic.twitter.com/CHCNQzb0zI

Neither can I. Thanks for this.

Frankly, I don’t see it, but I want it to be true solely for this feud. Yesterday, the two opponents declared a truce on Twitter. Ryan promised to make an ad for Hugh Jackman’s coffee company, Laughing Man Coffee, and Hugh promised to make an ad for Ryan’s gin company, Aviation Gin. What is it with handsome movie stars and beverage companies? Maybe it’s because all these actors make me thirsty as hell. Someone get me some seed money to start a kombucha company with the Chrises, it’ll make millions.
Small aside: I haven’t tried Aviation Gin yet, which is a shame because I like gin. But it has some diehard fans, like this person who had the bottle tattooed on his arm. WHY? Ryan Reynolds was confused too but sent his appreciation in the form of a swag package and a personalized note. Even though sitting in a chair for nine hours just to get a bottle of gin inked on my arm with a dozen sharp needles sounds like my worst nightmare, if it promised me some personal contact with Ryan Reynolds, I would consider it.
A huge Thank you again to both @VancityReynolds and @AviationGin for the gift! Flying to Canada on friday, first thing im gonna do is to buy me a bottle or 10. #aviationgin #tattoo pic.twitter.com/YE8S1DcBVt

You’re welcome. Don’t ever do this again.

I’ll admit that when I first saw the truce on Twitter, I was a little disappointed. I love comedic drama, and faux feuds allow celebrities to do ridiculous things for the sake of a joke. (See Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel.) The two really lean into it, making the feud incredibly fun to watch from the outside. However, I don’t think we should be so hasty to close this chapter. A mere 2 hours after the truce was posted, Ryan Reynolds and his unstoppable cheekiness started this thread:
He’s editing. He can’t talk.

I really hope that we get some parody trailers out of this, but it looks like the feud might be here to stay. At least this time, let’s get on the right side. #TeamReynolds4lyf
