Anya Taylor-Joy’s Carolyn-inspired look
The Dior show was in Paris today and Anya Taylor-Joy showed up in blush pink and a sleek pony. Do we think she’s getting her style groove back, or is she still stuck in a post-Law Roach rut?

She was also spotted in Paris yesterday in a black turtleneck and another sleek hairdo and the photos are noted as “Anya Taylor-Joy channels Carolyn Bessette Kennedy”.
Carolyn is having a moment because of Love Story (re)popularizing her minimalist style, but…ATJ has always dressed like this? Bright blonde hair is her signature, she favors sleek hair styles over undone, and she is usually on the more minimal side of styling, especially since she parted ways with Law Roach. Sometimes she’ll do a bit of theme dressing, but when I think of Anya Taylor-Joy’s style, I think of sleek, simple styles. I don’t know if this is so much the revitalized influence of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy as it is…that kind of minimalism never really went out of style in the first place.
Anyway, ATJ has a busy year ahead of her, with the Super Mario Galaxy Movie due in April, then Dune: Part Three in December. Somewhere in between is an Apple TV series, Lucky, which co-stars ATJ and Timothy Olyphant. TO fans, between this and Over Your Dead Body, we are dining OUT this year!
What else happened today…
Staying on a Love Story theme, Jack Schlossberg, son of Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg and grandchild of JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, hates Love Story and thinks Ryan Murphy should donate to the JFK Library. I mean…fair. No one expected the Kennedys to like this (or any other) portrayal. And I do lowkey think if you’re profiting from someone’s death—and making a TV series about a famous dead couple IS profiting from it—you should find a way to create a positive impact. It ameliorates at least some of the squicky ethics of fictionalized true crime. Like I appreciate that My Favorite Murder is constantly donating to causes that support victims, victims’ rights, and equity in justice. Or is that just me? (Celebitchy)
Kate Hudson is HUSTLING even though Jessie Buckley has that Best Actress Oscar on lock. She turned up to the *checks notes* Music Supervisors Awards in a pretty cool take on a floral print. This would have been rad for someone to wear closer to Valentine’s Day. (Go Fug Yourself)
Cillian Murphy is promoting the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, which means that Cillian Murphy is doing his least favorite thing: press. If you told me Cillian Murphy would rather get four consecutive root canals than sit through a press junket, I would believe you. He’s also being asked about playing Voldemort in the new HBO Harry Potter series, and he shut that sh-t down HARD. He said he is “categorically not” playing Voldemort. I choose to believe this is because he is a trans ally (he played a transwoman in Breakfast on Pluto in 2005, but that casting hasn’t aged well so he doesn’t bring it up). Good luck to the new Harry Potter, the adult actors will be dancing around this issue for the length of their involvement. (Pajiba)
So here’s a doozy: Jim Carrey received an honorary Cesar at the Cesar Awards (aka the French Oscar) where he gave an emotional speech and looked like almost every celebrity of a certain age—he’s had work done. But the internet, being the internet, launched into an entire conspiracy about clones, and now Carrey’s representative has had to wade in and deny the clone allegations. Look, I love a silly conspiracy as much as anyone, but I am also just going to need everyone to learn what plastic surgery and cosmetic fillers, etc, do to a face. I don’t think it was us gossip hounds falling for this, it’s people who don’t scrutinize celebrities regularly and were surprised by Carrey’s enhanced visage. Not everything is clones! Sometimes it’s too much Botox! (Variety)
Lastly, earlier today on The Squawk I answered the question 'Could Jason Segel be the next Seth Rogen?'. Check it out here and if you're not already a (paid) subscriber to the Squawk, join us! (The Squawk)
