The Accountant 2 premiere happened last night, the movie opens next Friday and Sarah will be posting her review next week.
Ben Affleck, of course, was the big draw on the carpet and he’s making headlines today for who joined him there – no photos, not that I can see, but we don’t need to see when he’s telling us himself: his kids were in attendance, which would be expected, but Jennifer Lopez’s kids were also present.
Ben mentioned this in his interview with Entertainment Tonight and … for me, as a reporter, what makes this even more noteworthy is that he didn’t have to be asked. Nischelle wasn’t trying to found a roundabout way of getting it out of him – no, Ben walked right up to her and opened with that detail. My kids are here, JENNIFER LOPEZ’s KIDS ARE HERE. In fact he said it twice, almost as if he wanted to make sure Nischelle heard what he said.

We have seen, in the year since Bennifer broke up, that Ben’s kids and JLo’s kids have remained close. We have seen that JLo has kept up with Ben’s kids, as Violet even went to visit with her in New York on her own. All of this went down while social media relentlessly clowned on her last year with “sources” close to him out in these streets talking about how marrying her was a “fever dream” for him and that he had “come to his senses”. JLo was able to ride that out, as she always does, but it was gross watching that play out while all we were ever hearing about him is how happy he was.
It is, of course, ideal and wonderful for Ben to maintain a relationship with JLo’s kids. And that he spoke about her with such respect in this interview. But since I’m too much of a c-nt to forget about all that noise last year during the release of her album and the two accompanying films. The way people shamed her for how public she made their marriage, overlooking the fact that he created an entire Super Bowl commercial around her for Dunkin’ – that spot, literally, was premised on him and his celebrity friends auditioning to be part of her music. In other words, he leaned into their marriage when it was convenient for him. And beneficial to him. And nobody called him out for it but they dumped all over her for her sincerity. Because as cringe as some of those songs and some of those visuals were, it was JLo at her most earnest.
Now Ben’s at HIS movie premiere. And he’s putting her name back in his mouth, one of the first things out of his mouth is related to her – and that’s making headlines all over the place, again to his benefit. Where are the TikToks dunking on him? To be clear, I’m not asking for TikTok to dunk on him. It’s about the double standard, and this certainly qualifies as one.
