The last update we have on Angelina Jolie this week is that she’s with her son Pax in hospital after he sustained head and hip injuries in an e-bike accident on Monday. This is a parent’s worst nightmare, hopefully Pax will make a full recovery soon.

In other family news, PEOPLE reported yesterday that Vivienne was seen working as an usher at the Reefer Madness: The Musical reunion concert on Tuesday. We already know that Vivienne is super into the theatre, so it would seem that The Outsiders was not a one-off, and is presumably as keen as ever about continuing to be involved in theatre somehow, and willing to do whatever job necessary. Spending part of your summer ushering at the show is… kinda… almost… civilian, non?

Maybe because it’s slow in entertainment, with so much attention focused on American politics and the Olympics, but PEOPLE’s pumped out a few stories about Angelina’s kids this week, including one that was flagged in our daily chat over at The Squawk yesterday. It’s an article about what the four adult children are “doing now” and it’s the headline that’s noteworthy.

People's headline

The four oldest kids are referred to as “Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh Pitt”. Maddox, Pax, and Zahara have reportedly all unofficially dropped “Pitt” from their last names. Zahara introduced herself at sorority initiation as “Zahara Jolie”, no Pitt. Shiloh made headlines recently for officially filing paperwork to drop “Pitt”, wishing to be known only as Shiloh Jolie. In that same article that I just linked to, PEOPLE even references that fact.

People article

And yet, they’re actually referring to all four of them, and Shiloh in particular with Pitt as the last name, not even Jolie-Pitt. Is this an editorial oversight? Were they just trying to throw up a make-an-article to put out content during a slow week and inadvertently published without thoroughly checking? Like a typo? Or is this intentional, like kissing Brad’s ass?

Shiloh’s lawyer previously acknowledged that Shiloh is going through the legal process for a name change, releasing a statement to various media outlets confirming Shiloh’s intent. This is a young adult who has made a decision about identity. And yet one of those media outlets that published that statement is now using the wrong name. Like I said, it could have been accidental. Or it could be insightful in terms of how mainstream entertainment media will move – and has been moving – in terms of who they want to curry favour with.

Will be interesting to see, going forward, once Shiloh’s legal request has been approved, how outlets like PEOPLE will, or won’t, change the way they cite the name.

We’re now less than a month away from the start of the Venice Film Festival and TIFF the week after. Should Angelina be cleared to attend, depending of course on the health and safety of her son, which is the priority, it’ll be the beginning of a press tour to promote her projects, and possibly an award season run. For a star of her status, that usually means magazine covers, and major magazines. Probably not Vogue since it hasn’t been that long since she did that one but Vanity Fair, ELLE, GQ… all of them should be on the table. With an extensive wide-ranging interview? It’s usually part of the circus. Something to look out for in the fall.
