BLACKPINK is celebrating the 8th anniversary of their debut on August 8 with a fan event. Now, just a couple of weeks before the anniversary, the agency that represents them for group activities, has announced the comeback.
YG founder Yang Hyun-suk said in a YouTube video released yesterday (that was an update on all their artists) that:
"There will be a highly-anticipated comeback from BLACKPINK. And it will also be the year BLACKPINK starts their world tour."
BLACKPINK’s last album, BORN PINK, was released in 2022 and was accompanied by a tour. After that, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé renegotiated their contract with the company, separated their solo work from the group. They will continue to perform as members of BLACKPINK with YG but everything outside of the band will be handled by other companies, some founded by themselves.
The fact that they agreed to a contract with YG means, however, that they still intend to remain in the group so… BLACKPINK in your area, soon. It’s nearly the end of July, 2025 isn’t that far off. It’s time for new music from the four of them together. And VISUALS!
Speaking of visuals though, Lisa was just announced as the new global ambassador for Louis Vuitton.
Lisa previously repped Celine and both Celine and Louis Vuitton are part of LVMH, the world’s biggest luxury conglomerate. Louis Vuitton is LVMH’s biggest brand and Lisa’s been showing up at Louis Vuitton events here and there over the last several months – this was an expected and drama-free move, especially since Lisa is dating one of the potential heirs to the LVMH empire, Frédéric Arnault.
And in more BLACKPINK news, the first trailer for Pachinko season two dropped today and… it is sweeping and gorgeous and that’s Rosé singing Coldplay’s Viva La Vida on the soundtrack. Coldplay does not often license their songs for covers. But there’s an interesting trend that’s emerging.
Jon M Chu wrote them a very personal letter a few years ago for the rights to use “Yellow”, covered by Katherine Ho, in Crazy Rich Asians. BTS then covered “Fix You” for their MTV Unplugged. And now it’s Rosé for Pachinko. She sounds AMAZING on this track.
