When I saw these shots of Jennifer Lawrence in thumbnail, I thought it was Taylor Swift. It’s the sunglasses and the way her head is turned away a bit, and also the hair in this length and the bangs.

Can’t just be me right?

Jennifer Lawrence in New York, September 3, 2025

When the sunglasses are off, obviously it’s Jennifer and not Taylor but that’s the first reason for this post, to point out the similarity and if there was a project that called for it, they could totally play sisters. Like Taylor, JLaw is also a tall girl. Also they’re friends. So JLaw could even play Taylor in a music video which, of course, would result in all kinds of internet breakage.

The other reason I wanted to post about JLaw, though, has to do with award season and Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love which world premiered back in May at Cannes and kicked off all kinds of early speculation about JLaw and another nomination. The film opens in November and, so far, isn’t scheduled to screen at any other festivals but, as we’ve seen from Venice and Telluride, new contenders have now emerged. Just two weeks ago JLaw was on almost every predictions list for best actress in the top five but now, on some lists, I’m seeing that she’s now in the 6-10 spots. Scott Feinberg’s latest forecast for The Hollywood Reporter however still had her in the top tier for contenders so for sure, Jennifer remains in the conversation but it will be interesting to see the strategy behind her campaign in the fall as the release date approaches and just how visible she’ll be in what looks like a crowded field and, hopefully, a tight race. Oscar season is always more fun when there’s no runaway winner.
