Jeremy Allen White’s perfect blowout

Jeremy Allen White is in Rome today promoting Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, opening in two weeks. It’ll be interesting to see how the Oscar Best Actor race changes once the film comes out. Because in the months leading up to release, he’s been considered one of the frontrunners. This is not surprising – he’s playing an American icon, he’s already an award winner on the television side, so the expectations have been there ever since it was announced that he had been cast. 

Since Deliver Me From Nowhere has been screening though, the momentum has shifted and it feels like the buzz has muted a few degrees for JAW. One Battle After Another has something to do with it for sure with its critical acclaim and just this week, with Marty Supreme having premiered at the New York Film Festival, Timothée Chalamet’s campaigning is dialing up the volume. So Jeremy is definitely not a lock at this point in the season. But, of course, once the audience sees his performance, it could be a factor. He is an internet favourite, social media might put some life back into his campaign. If he’s even interested in campaigning. Relative to some of the other campaigns we’ve seen over the years, I wouldn’t say he’s putting in the kind of effort that approaches thirst. 

Can we talk about his hair now? Because that, really, is my big takeaway from these shots of him in Italy. And if we’re talking about thirst, and the way people thirst after him, for me it’s only when his hair is working for me. I was not a subscriber to the way he wore his hair in his Calvin Klein ads. But I am a lifetime subscriber to how he’s wearing it here. The length is perfect and it is the perfect blowout. Like masterful. 

Jeremy has naturally curly hair, not super tight but definitely more curly than it is wavy. So he can only achieve texture like this with a hair dryer and a round-brush, which is what makes a blowout. It looks amazing. The blowout has pulled his hair into a slight wave, it’s tousled but not messy, styled but not too polished. Later in the day, when the product has relaxed, the pieces at the front will fall onto the forehead…
