The big event yesterday at London Fashion Week was the Burberry show, and it was a very Burberry show – a lot of plaid, so many gorgeous coats and boots and bags.

I love this collection, like right from the first look, that burst of orange and green plaid, and the Burberry print skinny ties, super 60s and very pop. This is a strong, sellable collection.

And of course the presentation was very well attended, featuring British icons of course but also stars from around the world. My favourite among their British female ambassadors is Jodie Turner-Smith. Look at her in this gorgeous one shoulder belted dress.

But that wasn’t her best Burberry look of the day, in my opinion. Here’s how she arrived earlier in the day to get ready – in the most perfect caped cropped jacket under a ball cap and OMG the yummiest pair of camel trouser-cargoes over olive green boots that I will be hunting down like my life depends on it.

Speaking of yummy though… I will always been in the mood for Jonathan Bailey in cozy fall brown. This is the only version of hot daddy autumn I will accept, goddamn.

Now here’s where my worlds collide: Jonathan was seated front row at the show next to popular Chinese actor Wu Lei aka Leo Wu, also dressed in chocolate brown. This coat on Wu Lei is gorgeous and I am desperate to know what he and Jonathan were talking about. Wu Lei’s Burberry ambassadorship is relatively fresh, just announced within the last couple of months. Here’s another angle where you can see how pretty he is.

But can we go back to Jodie’s pants? I can’t stop thinking about them. They’re Burberry, obviously, and are available in limited sizing but on sale here and an even better deal here

As for dupes, I mean, the Burberry pair is the standard. But there are some good alternatives. The best of them, in my opinion, is the Acne Studios layered mid-rise cotton satin pants. That zipper down the front? The material? All the pockets? These pants are sick. That price point is crazy, but the pants are fire.

Veronica Beard has a cargo right now (Canada) in a darker colour-way but I really like the hang of them and you can dress them up or down. For the US they’re here.

Victoria Beckham has a pair that’s on sale (low on sizes) that isn’t quite a cargo but in that shade of beige and with how the pleats are folding, it’s giving cargo. And I quite like the waistline with the button-cinch.

And Ralph Lauren has a cargo right now (Canada) that’s shorter and more fitted but they’re half-off and more size options, plus these pants will never go out of style. American link is here

Here’s the pair I just bought though, like right before writing this post. They’re Gap’s Mid Rise Twill Barrel Pants, not as elevated as the Burberry but I’ll wear them so much more than I ever would the Burberry and this is suuuuch a good deal. And they’re taking me back to me in the early 2000s. Whatever is going on at Gap right now is really working. The inventory is the strongest it’s been in a long time.
