Justin Timberlake is still on tour

The title was news to me and I’m wondering if it’s news to you. Justin Timberlake released his album, Everything I Thought It Was, pretty much exactly a year ago this week. Not sure if any of the tracks on the record actually did anything because I can’t name a single song off the album. And, sure, it may be just that I’m a hater but please don’t pretend that people (other than his diehards) were out here bumping JT’s music over the last 12 months. Back in February, at a show in St Paul, he asked the crowd to sing along with him to one of the songs on the new album and… well…they didn’t know it. 

Anyway, about the tour – he’s been at it since the end of April 2024 and is now in Buenos Aires to kick off the South American leg before heading to Mexico and then Europe through the summer. Again, the crowds may be into it, and his fans might be buying tickets but…like…there’s been no buzz. The other day I saw a mean headline about him at the Daily Mail and I almost felt bad. But then, predictably, he did something annoying. 

It's not the TikTok where he’s playing flight attendant on his private jet although that’s definitely an eyeroll. There’s another one that happened on that same flight, where he makes a crazy trick shot putt down the aisle of a plane… 

And posts it as a tribute to Tiger Woods with the audio from Tiger sinking that crazy putt at the Players in 2001 at TPC.

This is not about Tiger. This is about JT making an admittedly could-only-happen-once trick shot and wanting everyone to see it. Look, if it were me? Of course I’d want you to see it, too. I made a really tricky birdie putt, downhill with an f-ckload of break, a couple of months ago when we were on holiday in the DR and Jacek thought he was recording it and it turns out his fat fingers missed the button and I was cruuuuuushed. If we had the footage I would have shared it on IG immediately. So I get it the compulsion. What I don’t get is the attempt to not make it about his ego when it’s quite obviously about his ego. Then again, I guess he needs a win since he obstinately continues to resist the thing that would be the biggest win: just get back together with *NSYNC already!
