Kaley Cuoco is reteaming with Greg Berlanti on How to Survive Without Me on HBO Max. It’s a family drama and Ray Romano and Joshua Jackson are both attached. Very solid TV cast and Kaley and Greg have worked together before; The Flight Attendant was one of HBO Max’s first original hits.
It was also Kaley’s transition off The Big Bang Theory and she has definitely solidified herself as a staple of mid-prestige TV shows with a great hook (I’m still annoyed Based on a True Story wasn’t a bigger hit).
The first season of Beef was a big hit and like True Detective and Fargo, it’s switching up the cast and concept for the second season. The trailer for season two is out and the cast is really famous but the thing with season one was, I immediately understood the beef. There was an inciting incident. I don’t get what the beef is here.
There’s a Game of Thrones movie in the works (which could mean anything, a few GoT projects have died on the vine) but I guess, as an IP, it will always be floating around. It’s like Star Wars that way, lots of far off lands and funny names and daddy issues.
I really try not to post too much about Heated Rivalry because I see a slice of the fandom giving #robstenisunbroken energy and I don’t like it. But there are too many face cards in this photo to resist.
The Oscar race is so spicy this year – could it be Michael B.? It really could be. I think it’s between him and Wagner Moura.
Page Six has an “exclusive” about Harry and Meghan’s first look deal at Netflix, claiming that projects are stalled (including no new season of With Love, Meghan, which could still happen). Cookie Queen, the documentary they produced that debuted at Sundance, hasn’t found a distributor or streamer yet. But the only source in this admits they don’t know the details: “I don’t know how long this new deal is for, but if they don’t have anything to show soon, I can’t imagine it will be renewed.” So basically, there’s no material change. Meghan has clearly stated multiple times that she doesn’t like rushing projects and they both pivot a lot; pumping out projects has never been their MO.
