This is Kate Bosworth for Topshop, apparently recreating the iconic scene played by a vulnerable and sexy Michelle Pfeiffer in The Fabulous Baker Boys in an ad directed by, of course, her fiancé Michael Polish.

What is our objective here?

The clothes, right?

We are supposed to want to buy the clothes. Her singing is supposed to make us want to buy the clothes even more.

Does her singing make you want to buy the clothes?

Not me.

If anything, her singing distracts me from the clothes. I’ve watched this video twice and I don’t actually know what she’s wearing apart from the fact that it’s red. Instead, I’m thinking about her voice. To me it sounds like a weak, thin voice. But I guess I know nothing because Kate Bosworth is some kind of vocalist now. How come suddenly EVERYONE can sing AND act AND dance AND design organic baby clothes AND write books?

Also Topshop clothes never fit me because they hate my breasts.
