Would today have been the same if you replace Kate Winslet with Granny Freeze.

Oscar nomination day, everyone is being so gracious.
So let’s not.
Hanna Schmitz, who spends a large part of the first quarter of The Reader completely naked, was supposed to have been played by Kidman. Seriously, it would not have worked. Kate’s relationship with the young David Kross was uncomfortable but believable. With the Gran, it would have been absurd.
And while Gran’s hiding out in Nashville trying to forget her last Fail, Kate is the golden girl of the awards circuit, now in a tight race for Best Actress with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.
Good things happen when Nicole backs out.
