What Else?
Wicked is currently the biggest movie on the planet. And while some people might be tired of all the promotion and the hype, please do read Kathleen’s piece at Unbothered about Elphaba and Cynthia Erivo who, as Kathleen writes, “transforms a villain into the hero Black girls need”. (Refinery 29)
I am too old to appreciate the whole Mr Beast thing but I have heard so much about the scandal around his show because it was shot in Toronto and everyone was talking. Now he’s released a trailer downplaying the controversy so I’m curious whether or not people are actually going to watch it when it comes out because I get the sense that his online popularity has already peaked? But also it’s another example of a digital superstar trying to cross over, or cross back, to what is, for all intents and purposes, legacy media. (Pajiba)
Yara Shahidi’s been promoting her podcast and every single look on her press tour is fire, I can’t choose a runaway favourite. (Go Fug Yourself)
Kristin Chenoweth is a night owl. Like not to Mariah Carey levels where nothing happens before at least 6pm, if that, but Kristin wakes up late, or prefers to, and doesn’t speak in the mornings. I could live this way because I can sleeeeeeep. I am capable of sleeping three days in a row even when I’m not sick and then go back to sleep after a pee, a poo, a shower, and a meal, in that order. (Celebitchy)
Dwyane the Rock Johnson is weighing in on all the Wicked debate about whether or not people should be singing in the theatre during the movie. I suspect many of you will say that his take is the wrong take. (The Mary Sue)
