Katie and Joshua are for the cameras
Summer is a season of celebrity romance, and this summer is no different, from random pairings to fun, flirty connections to whatever Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas are doing. One summer romance that is for the cameras only, though, is the reunion of Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson. They dated back in the Dawson’s Creek days, then went their separate ways. But now they’re working together again on Holmes’ new movie, Happy Hours, and their chemistry is obvious. It has everyone wondering if they’ll get back together for real.
After the f-cks sh-t she went through with Tom Cruise—literally! Escaping! A cult! Ana are you taking notes!—I just want Katie Holmes to have whatever kind of chill, non-f-ck sh-t life experiences she wants. Given gossip around his recent relationships, especially shade thrown by his ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith—they’re also in a custody dispute over their daughter—I’m not sure Joshua Jackson is f-ck sh-t free. Definitely he has a lot going on. I wonder if the people rooting for a true romantic reunion are considering that Holmes might be re-embroiling herself in hot water.
Here they both are on set in New York today, continuing work on Holmes’ movie. They do look really good together.
What else happened today…
Tom Holland has spoken about the origin of his legendary lip synch battle with Zendaya. You know what that means! Gotta watch it now! That’s the rule! (Celebitchy)
Jenna Ortega continues the Wednesday “doom tour”, serving major Eighties c-nt. Once again, though, hideous shoes. As a very short person, I do understand the temptation of platform heels, they give you so much length and immediately open up more style doors, I just don’t like the toe shape of these particular shoes. I watched the first episode of the new docuseries on HBO/Max about the 1991 Austin, Texas yogurt shop murders, in which four teenaged girls were murdered, at least one was sexually assaulted, the youngest was just thirteen, two were sisters. This is the case that got me into true crime, because I was living in Texas when it happened, and my family owned a f-cking yogurt shop. My folks shut it down overnight, closing before Christmas and never reopening. It seems extreme, but people legitimately didn’t know what was happening, if this type of business—largely cash, then—was being targeted, or what.
The case remains technically unsolved. The new docuseries is simply called The Yogurt Shop Murders, it’s produced by Emma Stone and Dave McCrary, and is backed by A24. The first episode is brutal, focused on the girls, their families and friends, and the first responders and detectives on the scene. There is no closure with this case, and it created a huge psychic scar in the community. Austin was a cool and groovy college town, just beginning to grow with the Nineties tech boom, and this is the case that changed the face of the city. It’s no wonder the filmmakers needed therapy. On a lighter Texas-related note, King of the Hill is back with a new season on Hulu (I’ve seen the first three episodes, so far, and am really enjoying it). Bobby is grown up now, and he’s a chef! There’s a lot of food talk, naturally, but, as Amy McCarthy says, King of the Hill was always a food show. (Eater)
