I saw Keke Palmer at the SAG Awards, and I GASPED. Actually, physically gasped, complete with dramatic noise and all. You know it’s good fashion when you have an audible reaction to it. Or bad fashion, but in this case it’s GOOD fashion.

Keke turned up at the SAGs in vintage Chanel (first worn by Jamie Lee Curtis in 1986) and sporting a copper bob. She looks unreal and also I am now fantasy casting her as Jessica Rabbit.

It was a big weekend for Keke, who presented at the SAG Awards alongside the always impeccable Colman Domingo. They did a great bit about how every actor has been on Law & Order. Consummate entertainers who can make anything work!

Besides appearing at the SAGs, on Saturday she won Entertainer of the Year at the NAACP Image Awards.

Keke, as we know, stays busy. She is a legitimate multi-hyphenate and she’s been acting forever. If you need proof, look no further than this side-by-side of Keke attending the SAGs in 2005 and 2025.

Twenty years and you know what doesn’t change? That smile.

There’s a long-standing theory that successful film actors have big heads, which gives people a commanding/domineering look on screen. There’s something to it—a lot of actors have big heads and comparatively smaller bodies. But it’s not just dome size. To me, a lot of actors, including the really, really, generationally successful ones, have big FEATURES. Think of all the actresses who have famously pillowy pouts, or big scared baby eyes, or sculptural noses, or cut-glass cheekbones. I bet a lot of faces are flashing through your mind right now, because so many famous faces are dominated by oversized features.

And Keke’s got that smile, what you might call a trademark grin. Her talent and her hustle count for a lot, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she’s got that memorable smile, and she’s succeeded in transitioning from child star to grownup multi-hyphenate. Keke is 31, in her third decade in the entertainment industry, and it feels like she’s entering a new era. I can’t wait to see what it brings.
