I saw these shots of Lily-Rose Depp shopping in LA yesterday and realised…oh yeah, it’s been months since we’ve had an update on her and Timothee Chalamet. Pretty sure the last time they were seen together was back in December when he spent part of the holidays with her in France. Not that that means anything either way since it’s not like they were putting their relationship on blast. And, of course, it’s not like they’re both not busy with other priorities.
Lily-Rose has been shooting Dreamland, a film about the opioid crisis, directed by Nicholas Jarecki also starring Gary Oldman, Greg Kinnear, Michelle Rodriguez, and Armie Hammer, aka Timmy’s very good friend. Lily-Rose plays Armie’s sister.
Timmy, meanwhile, started shooting Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune – not a remake but a different adaptation? – a few weeks ago. The full cast is pretty impressive: Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac, and more. This is Timothee’s first leading role in a blockbuster. Yes, of course, he’s been the lead actor before but in mostly smaller pictures, certainly nothing approaching this scale. Dune is due November 2020 so, with that release date, primed for the 2020 holiday box office and, perhaps, award season, this is a major focus.
But Timmy and Lily-Rose got to know each other on Netflix’s The King, to be released this year. This is Shakespeare so I’m thinking they might want to take it on a festival tour, but not Cannes, obviously, since Cannes hates Netflix and a trailer hasn’t even been released so they’re probably still in post. Maybe Venice and TIFF? Lily-Rose and Timothee on the Lido together? I would really like to see that photo.
