Sydney Sweeney & MGK’s non-answer
Back in the spring, Sydney Sweeney’s love life was making headlines because she did not end up getting married in May and instead was seen in Vegas flirting with Machine Gun Kelly whose relationship issues are even messier.
He and Megan Fox have been on and off for years but they were definitely together, and she was pregnant, when she allegedly found texts between him and other women on his phone. It was over from there, it was still over when she gave birth to their child in March, and it remains over now, although they’re apparently coparenting productively.
MGK was in New York last week and stopped by Watch What Happens Live and, of course, Andy Cohen went digging about Sydney. MGK’s response is now going viral for being not a response.
This non-answer works on two levels. First, technically it’s none of anyone’s business so MGK doesn’t have to say sh-t about what did or didn’t happen between him and Sydney. But also, he’s been around long enough to know that the intrigue doesn’t hurt, and he’s just revived the speculation. Which Sydney probably doesn’t mind because the conversation about her the last couple of weeks has been eugenics and being a Trump supporter. So, you know, in comparison, rumouring about whether or not she and MGK are or were f-cking is definitely an upgrade.
And the timing works for him too because I was actually wondering last week when I saw all those pap photos of him what he was promoting. MGK doesn’t show up in my feeds, I don’t know anything about his music, I only really know him for who he’s dating and who he’s cheating on, and now, thanks to Sydney, I’m aware that he released a new album last week, Lost Americana, in which, through music, he’s basically confronting his own bullsh-t and put it into his art. He’s featured on this week’s new episode of the NYT’s Popcast and speaks candidly about his “self-destructive behaviour”, some of which is addressed on the album. Including basically admitting to doing Megan dirty and blowing up their home…and then also complimenting his own songwriting skills, LOL.
Are we actually sleeping on MGK as a songwriter?
