Dear Gossips,
There are no red carpets happening right now, at least not official ones. Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff’s wedding in New Jersey this weekend felt like a red carpet, though, with all the celebrities in attendance. We’ll get to the guest list later, for now let’s focus on the bride and groom. Or, rather, the bride in particular. Jack wore white socks, I like it. But other than that there’s not much to say.
Margaret, however, appeared to keep her footwear to flats all weekend from the rehearsal dinner to both her looks at the wedding. I love this energy. And I love her hair – this length, it feels old-timey and modern at the same time.
Back to the shoes though, it was mary janes all weekend for Margaret starting with a more casual pair at the rehearsal with an off-the-shoulder white peasant dress. The mary janes were more elevated on the wedding day to go with her satin halter dress. She kept those on for her second look – another peasant style with sheer sleeves … all in all a pretty consistent wedding style vibe that also very much suited the wedding overall and its location, Long Beach Island.
Not sure if we’ll start seeing this at weddings that don’t involve famous people but if you’re out there planning yours, and you’re thinking of mary janes for your big day but haven’t quite decided, imagine how comfortable you’ll be the whole time!
And if you’re not getting married but you’re looking for mary janes in general, the Miu Mius, which are the trendiest pair of the year, a hybrid ballet flat-mary jane, are actually still available. The Reformation version was also really popular. But as much as I enjoy a mary jane, I will never, ever, ever get down with the sneaker mary jane.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
