It takes a lot for Mariah Carey to leave her house to promote someone else – and it should! Our Butterfly Queen doesn’t expend energy for just anyone. So when she does actually show up, that person must mean something.

Anderson .Paak is not Mimi’s boyfriend. If they were dating, it’s now over, now that her album has been released, though most people are convinced in the aftermath that it was all for the music. Whatever questions there are that remain about their relationship, what’s not up for debate is that they obviously still admire and respect one another, so much that Mimi attended the premiere of Anderson’s movie, K-POPS!, last night.

K-POPS! premiered in 2024 at TIFF which is where I screened it. It’s cute, Anderson stars with his son, Soul, and they shot it in Korea and several Korean stars make cameos. Also an original soundtrack is on the way with K-pop collaborators.

In addition to Mimi, other celebrities in attendance at the premiere included Janelle Monae, Atsuko Okasuka, and Kevin Woo, the singing voice of Mystery Saja from Kpop Demon Hunters who also has a role in this movie. And Jee Young Han who is the female lead.

K-POPS! will be in theatres this weekend.

What else happened today…

It’s Celebitchy’s 20th anniversary! This is an achievement, for a small online publisher to have made it two decades. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and CONGRATULATIONS! (Celebitchy)

Going back to Mimi, she’s still not in the Rock Hall and she’s been nominated again. She’s done everything – what more do they want from our Elusive Chanteuse?! (Pajiba)

I am obsessed with Richard Quinn’s dresses – Olivia Dean looked great in one his designs a few months ago – and I’m not sure why we don’t see more of them on the award show red carpets. This collection is so pretty though, if I’m honest, with the bow details and the embellishments, it’s quite similar to his last. (Go Fug Yourself)

Ryan Gosling is about to be very visible because Project Hail Mary is coming out in three weeks and could be the first blockbuster of the year. The junket is happening this week so the film has been screening and the first reactions are very, very positive. I can’t wait to see this movie. (The Mary Sue)

Fans of The Pitt, here’s a fascinating article about the show’s cinematographer, Johanna Coelho, who describes her work as “visual psychology”. (Mashable)
