The New “Family”
We are just over two weeks from the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the MCU’s next anticipated blockbuster so the press tour is starting and also more solid marketing, including the cover of PEOPLE Magazine - in character. This is … perfect. Because it suits both brands.
This is not an MCU image, it’s a PEOPLE image, tailored to their audience who, of course, would respond to the headline, “America’s finest family on how they stay grounded while flying high”. It’s cliché but clever, given that these are not real people, but this is what real people want to believe in: successful families who are also humble and approachable.
As we have seen, though, Fantastic Four is leaning in hard to the “family” theme and this is hilarious to me because at the movies, at least Hollywood movies, there is already a movie franchise that’s all about “family”: Fast & Furious. Which means we officially have a family-off. Will F4 out-family Vin Diesel’s family?
A new clip from F4 posted last night, Sunday night at 7pm, adds another layer to the fantastic family – a wholesome Sunday family dinner during which mom and dad have some news.
I love what they’re doing here, how they’re selling this film. We’re all aware, I’m sure, that anticipation has been high since casting was confirmed. And with the trailers and the other promotional bits released so far, it’s only added to the excitement. Will the actual movie match up to the movie’s excellent marketing? Screenings should be happening in a matter of days, it’ll be interesting to see what the first reactions will be.
In the meantime, here are the Fantastics themselves today – Joseph Quinn, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach at a photocall in Paris.

Pedro as you can see is looking fine AF. The hair, the fit, the smile, and the smirk.

And I love the pale pink Givenchy dress on Vanessa. If it looks familiar, it’s because Charlize Theron wore a top from the same collection a couple of weeks ago. That’s the same high neck. It’s the silhouette here on Vanessa that makes it so pretty – it’s loose and swingy, with pockets, basically an elevated halter.
Since it’s Givenchy, obviously an exact comp is a challenge but I was actually just browsing halter dresses with Simone, our show stylist, and we were looking at two options at Anthropologie. Here’s an eyelet halter maxi in orange and the defining feature is the band across the back, so pretty and currently on sale, click here to see.
And this is the one we ended up ordering, I am obsessed. The high neck, the print, the loose fit, the ruffle – I will be in this very soon, probably with a little jacket on top. Click here to see and please note, these are affiliate links.
