What Else?
Sounds like Meghan Markle’s American Riviera Orchard will probably not launch in time for the holidays and will be pushed to 2025. There have been trademark issues and at this point, I wonder if it’s better to just go with another name. Other celebrities have done it before – Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS was supposed to be Kimono, remember? And look how successful SKIMS is now. Given the delays with ARO’s trademark, it would not surprise me if we hear in the new year that it’s no longer ARO, and maybe what’s taking longer is that they have to adjust for everything they’ve already labeled and filed and shot for her show. Kathleen went to the Taylor Swift show in Toronto two nights after me. We should have just gone together because she kept texting me from the concert and, also, we were both working. Here’s her piece on “Black Swifties at The Eras Tour”. As Kathleen writes, she is “in the business of giving Black women the space to feel seen and heard”, and we don’t hear much from Black fans of Taylor Swift. (Refinery 29)
Severance is coming back for season two on January 17 and I’m nervous but I also can’t wait. Nervous because the show fills me with constant dread. Nervous because the show is SO good. Jacek and I mainlined Severance maybe a couple of months after all the season episodes had dropped and that worked for us because that was a show, like Slow Horses btw, that is hard to wait for. Not sure how we’ll proceed this season but now there’s more – because Ben Stiller and Adam Scott are doing a concurrent podcast. Honestly I don’t know if I have time for all of this! (Pajiba)
Maren Morris looks so good in this red dress that looks like latex but she can still breathe in it and the fur trim is festive and fun. And she elevates it since these materials can easily verge into cheap territory. Here’s an experiment though – because when I first saw this dress I thought to myself that it’s something Katy Perry would wear. But it would look totally different, and probably not as good; materials like this don’t elevate on Katy, they go in the opposite direction. (Go Fug Yourself)
Where are all my K-drama stans? Our current collective obsession is When The Phone Rings, right? This show is my whole personality at the moment, I think about it so much it’s embarrassing. And exactly what I want in my life right now – pulpy, a little absurd, slick, and so f-cking sexy, like the chemistry between these leads! Is! So! Horny! Which is why I’m mad about the schedule. It’s already enough that there are only two episodes a week! Also this is a marriage contract story – and that’s also what Gong Yoo’s The Trunk is about. They’re both on Netflix. Is The Trunk going to flop?! (Soompi)
