Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have now concluded a full day of events in Fiji. Harry was in uniform to lay a wreath at the Fiji War Memorial and visit with veterans. He also planted a tree at the Colo-i-Suva Forest as a representative for the Queens Canopy. They both spoke at the University of the South Pacific (more on that in a bit), and Royal Meghan stopped by at Suka Market to meet with female entrepreneurs as part of a UN initiative, although that part of the itinerary was cut short because of security concerns. As mentioned on Monday, and we’ll come back to this in the next post, the crowds for Harry and Meghan throughout this tour have been huge. Their popularity is undeniable. And already there’s been talk of what this means where royal interpersonal relationships and politics are concerned.
Royal Meghan gave us a break from all that belly-cupping today. There were no incidents of belly-cupping from the videos and the images that I’ve seen. I appreciate it. I prefer the public speaking. Here is where she excels. She is, by far, the most effective speaker in the family. And she gave her first royal tour speech today at the University of the South Pacific about educational opportunities, especially for women.
Part 1 and Part 2 of the speech below:
A powerful first speech as the Duchess of Sussex: “Everyone should be afforded the opportunity to receive the education they want, but more importantly the education they have the right to receive. And for women and girls in developing countries, this is vital.”

“When girls are given the right tools to succeed, they can create incredible futures, not only for themselves but also for those around them.” - Duchess of Sussex

Not one stumble, not a moment of uncertainty. This is what her former profession brings to the table. This is what she brings to the royal table as their most skilled communicator. Word is Harry couldn’t stop smiling when she was up there. And he said as much when it was his turn:
A funny moment after Meghan’s @UniSouthPacific speech today - the MC forgot to introduce Harry! “I thought I got away with it,” he joked. “No way that I could follow my wife after that.” pic.twitter.com/1lsP9X5VI8

More of this, less of the cupping thing?
Also… just want to point out Harry’s pants. He never looks bad in pants. But these dark blue pants in particular are really doing it for me. Both Will and Harry look great in pants. They also both have great gaits. A hot gait is so important. I’ve asked this question many times for many years – why isn’t this more of a thing? Why aren’t there Buzzfeed articles about Celebrities With the Hottest Gaits? Ten Celebrities with Hot Gaits? If you’re reading this and you’re about to make one, do NOT put Leonardo DiCaprio on it.
